Recent advances in breathable electronics

The successful implementation of bioelectronic devices attached to living organism hinges on a number material and device characteristics, including not only electrical mechanical performances gather physiological signals from thus enabling status monitoring, but also permeability or breathability for gas/nutrient exchange between organisms surroundings ensure minimum perturbation the intrinsic biological function. However, most built planar polymeric substrates, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), polyurethane (PU), polyimide (PI), lack efficient gas permeability, which may hinder emission volatile compounds surface organism, affecting natural metabolism reducing comfort wearing. Thus, achieving in is significant challenge. Currently, made gas-permeable materials with porous structures, that combine electronic components daily garments, fibric textile, offer exciting opportunities breathable electronics. In this review, several types their synthesis processing routes are outlines. Then, two methods measuring water vapor transmission rate discussed depth. Finally, recent progress use applications plant- skin-attached electronics summarized systematically.
